JOB SUMMARY:
 
As a Senior Linux Ubuntu System Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of electric vehicle (EV) charging Operating System. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
  • Linux-Ubuntu System administrator to support the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of one or more multi-platform operating systems, utilities, and related software to meet organizational needs on EVSE (Electrical Vehicle Supply Equipment)
  • Provide daily support for the HPC environment with a focus on Ubuntu, and other *nix operations both on-premise and within cloud computing platforms
  • Develop and update procedures and guidelines to install, patch, configure, customize, troubleshoot, upgrade, integrate, and maintain Ubuntu, other *nix operating systems, and related software
  • Research, analyze and resolves problems, providing root-cause analysis for Ubuntu, and other *nix operating systems
  • Proactively seek information and utilize analytical and creative problem-solving skills along with standard processes and technologies resulting in secure use of systems, applications, and infrastructure
  • Demonstrates quality service and accountability in the process of resolving requests, supporting daily operations, and ensuring system stability that results in accurate, timely, and efficient solutions and data as evidenced by meeting customer needs
  • Learning and keeping current with HPC technologies, such as backups, job-scheduling and parallel file system management
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field required; 
  • Proven experience in Linux Ubuntu Operating System testing, hardware testing, or quality assurance, preferably in the automotive or electric vehicle industry.
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies, test automation frameworks, and software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Linux-based systems, test automation, and scripting purposes. -
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, power electronics, and EV charging protocols (e.g., CCS, CHAdeMO, AC/DC charging standards, OCPP) is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and communicate findings effectively.
Competencies:
  • Strong engineering experience in charging communication standards & vehicle charging testing methodologies.
  • Strong experience with Electrical Engineering is preferred. 
  • Understands and lives a “customer first” mentality with empathy, pragmatism, and a hands-on approach

  • Structured, and organized with the ability to prioritize tasks

  • Extensive high-end Linux/Ubuntu knowledge, specifically on the desktop side. 
  • familiar with the Ubuntu loads and kernels. 
  • Creating Ubuntu images from scratch and modifying them as needed. 
  • Experience with the process to get a device Ubuntu Certified is a big plus 
  • Automation experience is a must-have. 
  • Strong scripting experience using BASH 
  • Need to be very knowledgeable on the Kernel side of things, understanding what Linux Kernels interact with what versions of Ubuntu and, in turn, the hardware mods.

Pay:
$85,014.25- $115,605.00 
The above represents the expected hourly range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your experience and other job-related factors.

Schedule:
  • Office-based role with occasional travel required to visit customer sites, attend industry events or meet with partners.
  • Flexible working hours may be necessary to accommodate customer needs and support inquiries outside of standard business hours.
  • A fast-paced work environment with the potential for high-pressure situations and tight deadlines.

Compensation: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
